Kotadaila: A Script Font That Elevates Branding with Elegance

Starting with a Blank Brand Board

I was halfway through a new project for a small artisanal skincare brand when I opened Adobe Illustrator to start the visual identity. The brief was simple: soft, feminine, and handcrafted. The first thing I did was open my font library and type out a few options. That’s when I saw Kotadaila — a beautiful script font with elegant characters and a flowing cursive style. It caught my eye immediately, and I thought, why not give it a try?

Testing Kotadaila on the Logo Draft

I dropped the name of the brand into a new text box using Kotadaila. Instantly, the mood shifted. The font brought a sense of warmth and approachability that matched the brand's personality. I adjusted the kerning and spacing, and even tried a few ligatures that came with the font. Since Kotadaila is PUA encoded, I could easily access those alternate characters without needing special software. It made the logo feel more custom and intentional, like it was hand-lettered just for this brand.

Using Kotadaila Across Brand Touchpoints

Once the logo was approved, I started thinking about how Kotadaila would work across the rest of the brand system. I used it in packaging mockups for product labels, and it looked stunning on matte white stickers. The font’s cursive style added a touch of luxury without feeling too formal. For business cards, I paired it with a clean sans serif to balance the elegance with readability. The contrast between Kotadaila and the supporting typeface gave the brand a modern yet timeless feel.

On the website mockup, I used Kotadaila for the homepage hero section — specifically for the tagline. It worked beautifully as a headline font, drawing attention without overwhelming the layout. I made sure to keep the body text in a more neutral font, since Kotadaila is best used for short-form text and display purposes. The same went for social media graphics — Kotadaila was perfect for quotes and highlights, adding a personal touch to the brand’s Instagram feed.

Real-World Design Observations

One of the most interesting moments came when we printed the first batch of packaging. I was a little nervous about how the script would hold up in smaller sizes, but Kotadaila surprised me. Even at a small point size, the characters remained legible and graceful. It’s not always easy to find a script font that maintains clarity while still feeling expressive. The café-style thank-you cards we designed also benefited from Kotadaila’s personality. It gave the brand a handwritten, boutique feel that resonated with customers.

Pairing Kotadaila with Other Fonts

When it came to font pairing, I found that Kotadaila worked best with a minimalist serif or a soft sans serif. I used it alongside a light-weight serif for subheadings and it created a beautiful visual hierarchy. Because Kotadaila has such a strong character, I made sure not to pair it with anything too decorative. Keeping the supporting fonts simple allowed the script to shine without creating visual clutter.

It’s also worth noting that Kotadaila comes with a variety of alternates and ligatures, which made it easy to customize for different uses. Whether I was designing a product label or a digital banner, I could tweak the look slightly to suit the format while maintaining brand consistency. The multilingual support was a nice bonus, especially since the brand had plans to expand into European markets later on.

Practical Tips for Using Kotadaila in Branding

If you’re considering Kotadaila for a branding project, here are a few things I’d recommend:

Final Thoughts on Kotadaila

Kotadaila is more than just a pretty script font — it’s a versatile tool for brand designers looking to inject elegance and personality into their work. Whether you’re designing a logo for a creative studio, labeling for a handmade shop, or social media graphics for a local restaurant, Kotadaila brings a level of sophistication that’s hard to match. As a script font, it bridges the gap between traditional calligraphy and modern design, making it a valuable asset in any designer’s toolkit.
